We are looking for a new team member to join the Air Quality Monitoring unit and provide technical support for Science Division's State-wide Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Program.

This is a rewarding opportunity to be part of a team that monitors Queensland's air quality, with a great chance to advance your skills in the techniques and science behind air quality monitoring and investigations.

Reporting to the Senior Technical Officer, you will support technical/scientific air monitoring projects and provide technical assistance for the State-wide Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Program. Responsibilities of this position include ambient air monitoring instrument maintenance and calibration, assistance with air monitoring network fieldwork and investigation projects, and quality system development and maintenance.

You'll be supported to grow and refine your expertise while working with other scientists and technical experts, with the opportunity to build your capability within a supportive culture.

The role is based at the Ecosciences Precinct in Dutton Park; however, it requires travel to regional centres throughout the year to service our Air Quality Monitoring network. This includes overnight stays of up to a week at a time.

You'll be part of a dynamic and creative work environment that encourages innovative thinking and mutual respect among team members to deliver group outcomes. At DETSI, we support one another to share our experience so we can all learn, improve, and innovate.

What we're looking for:

• Demonstrated ability to lead and implement projects within a team environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills in environmental monitoring programs, equipment, and quality assurance programs relevant to ambient air quality.
• Demonstrated analytical skills to support and diagnose technical problems.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise work tasks to meet project timeframes and achieve work objectives.
• The ability to use written and verbal communication skills to deliver messages clearly and accurately.
• Contribution to workplace equity and diversity that enriches our culture of safety, innovation, respect, and inclusion.
