About the role

As the Senior Advisor, Inspectorate Policy and Support, you'll support the development and review of operational procedures and provide advice across
inspectorate services. Your work will help ensure that compliance and enforcement activities undertaken by the Office of Industrial Relations (OIR) are underpinned by strong, coordinated, and legally sound positions and frameworks.

Working within the Work and Electrical Safety Policy unit, you'll collaborate across internal stakeholders including Compliance and Field Services, Electrical Safety Office, and Specialised Health and Safety Services to ensure operational policy aligns with emerging priorities and legislative requirements.

You will also manage governance and document management systems for the team using digital solutions, including SharePoint.

You'll report to the Manager, Inspectorate Policy and Support, and play a key role in shaping the way OIR supports its inspectorate workforce.

Please note Inspectorate Policy and Support is also advertising for an AO7 Principal Advisor role.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of high-quality, consistent, and transparent inspectorate policies and procedures.
• Provide operational advice and guidance under the direction of the Manager.
• Analyse and interpret WHS and electrical safety legislation to inform sound decision making.
• Prepare correspondence and submissions in response to ministerial and operational matters.
• Contribute to strategic projects and initiatives.
• Model professional and ethical behaviour and support an inclusive workplace culture.

What we're looking for

We're seeking a values-driven professional with:

• An understanding of the regulatory environment.

• High-level written communication and drafting skills.
• Proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders.
• Proven ability to use digital solutions to support document management and other governance processes.
• Knowledge and experience in workplace or electrical safety, policy, or law will be highly regarded.

Your personal qualities, alignment with the OIR Capability Framework, and your potential to contribute to a diverse, respectful and inclusive workplace will also be key considerations.

There are no mandatory qualifications for this role; however, qualifications or experience in work health and safety, law, or policy development are desirable.

Applications to remain current for 12 months.
