Join the Translink Operations Centre (TOC) as an Advisor Communications in this fixed-term temporary role until 30 June 2026 and play a key role in keeping Queensland moving. You will assist in leading a team of Real-Time Communication Coordinators, ensuring timely, accurate public transport updates across the state.

This dynamic role involves supervising daily operations, reviewing complex messaging, and collaborating with stakeholders to resolve real-time challenges. We're looking for a strong communicator with at least 3 years' experience in communications, ideally in transport or operations, who thrives in fast-paced environments. The Translink Operations Centre (TOC) is the central hub for overseeing public transport operations across Queensland. With cutting-edge technology and a dedicated team, TOC ensures the seamless coordination, monitoring and optimisation of the public transport network. Our mission is to enhance the commuting experience for Queenslanders by delivering reliable, real-time information and maintaining high standards of service delivery.

As the Advisor Communications within the Translink Operations Centre (TOC), the primary purpose of the role is to oversee the day-to-day operations of Real-Time Communication Coordinators, ensuring effective and timely dissemination of information to enhance public transport communication. This position role in maintaining seamless communication channels, promoting efficiency and addressing any real-time operational challenges to uphold the high standards of service delivery across Queensland's public transport network.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Supervise Real-Time Communication Coordinators to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of information related to public transport operations.
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to coordinate communication efforts and address any operational challenges promptly.
• Monitor and analyse communication processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to enhance overall effectiveness.
• Review and approve complex messaging to ensure accuracy, clarity and  alignment with organisational standards before dissemination by Real-Time Communication Coordinators.
• Provide guidance and training to Real-Time Communication Coordinators, fostering a high-performance culture and maintaining a cohesive team within the TOC.

Requirements of the role :
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in communications, preferably in a public transport or similar operational environment.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, including internal teams and external partners.
• Strong attention to detail, especially in reviewing and approving complex messaging to uphold accuracy and reliability.
• Ability to adapt to dynamic and fast-paced environments, making sound decisions under pressure.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
