Principal Program Officer

The Principal Program Officer will work collaboratively to deliver functions of Specialist Disability Programs maximising access to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) by at-risk Queenslanders. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing collaborative leadership and problem solving for people with complex disability presentations who need support navigating multiple service systems.
The team works intensively with clients alongside their existing services and stakeholders to support their access and utilisation of appropriate disability supports. In addition, a key focus of the team is to share contemporary advice about disability specific knowledge and expertise with key stakeholders and work to support the interface between disability services and the Queensland child safety service system.

As Principal Program Officer you will:
- Undertake review activities to inform Senior Executives on existing and new department approaches to disability capability building initiatives designed to support professionals responding to the needs of children and young people.
- Lead collaborative processes to analyse and undertake assessments of resources, tools and professional networks, proactively identify ways to improve learning about the integration of NDIS and out of home care services to children and young people living with disability.
- Collaborate with agency colleagues to build the knowledge and capability of the child protection sector in navigating the NDIS and disability service systems.
- Identify potential areas of workforce capability uplift related to the service response to children with disability known to the child protection system and make recommendations designed to improve effective service delivery.
- Contribute to delivering a range of program deliverables to support other integrated projects across Disability Services as required.
- Use strong interpersonal communication to establish and maintain partnerships and working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve outcomes for children and young people with complex disability support needs.
- Lead the review, preparation and development of a range of written materials including professional resources, training content, submissions, executive correspondence, briefing material, speech notes, budget submissions and information papers related to the role.
- Maintain records and reporting systems and coordinate and prepare input into regular performance management reports on program and project actions and outputs, and work across the team to deliver systemic review outcomes.
