We embrace diversity, flexibility, learning and continuous improvement to deliver quality legal services. The work is challenging but rewarding - and that is why staff wellbeing and work/life balance are a top priority for us.

About the role

As an Administration Officer, you'll play a vital role in the efficient operation of the Mount Isa regional office. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your exceptional organisational and communication skills while contributing to initiatives that create a positive impact in the community.

In this dynamic role, you'll:

  • Be the first point of contact for clients, staff, and external stakeholders, handling enquiries with a personable and professional approach.
  • Use your communication skills to effectively liaise with clients, some with complex needs, and build strong networks with government departments, community organisations, and rural and Indigenous communities.
  • Coordinate the administrative aspects of remote outreach services, including liaising on Circuit Court activities and schedules.
  • Support lawyers by organising case files, scheduling appointments, maintaining calendars, and preparing briefs.
  • Assist with office processes and identify opportunities for operational improvements.

This role offers variety, meaningful work, and the chance to develop professional relationships with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.

About you

We're looking for a driven and adaptable team player with:

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to engage effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Administrative and secretarial experience, coupled with proven ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of legal practices and social issues relevant to Mount Isa and North West Queensland, or the ability to acquire it quickly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and an aptitude for learning organisation-specific programs.
  • An understanding of the needs of rural and Indigenous communities, particularly in legal service delivery, is a bonus.

Find out more about the role and how to apply in the attached role description.

As a member of the Legal Aid Queensland Community, you will receive:

  • A 36.25 hour working week (full time hours)
  • Generous salary packaging
  • Employer super contributions of 12.75%
  • Flexible working hours
  • Study leave for approved work-related courses.
