QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.
About the role
You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by providing management and coordination to the delivery of maintenance and construction activities to maximise project profitability and ensure client satisfaction.
Duties and skills involved:
- Managing and co-ordinating the physical, financial and human resources on a major project, in a large or complex depot or a number of medium sized site(s).
- Ensure quality and cost effective commercial and/or residential building construction is delivered to clients.
- Conducting site scoping of works, preparing accurate material lists and timely estimates to meet construction/maintenance programs.
- Assisting in the planning and delivery of projects through the efficient supervision of field staff and subcontractors and through the application of legislation, regulations, practices and policies related to the building construction, maintenance and engineering industries.
- Providing a level of supervisory services and contract administration in respect to the delivery of construction, maintenance and upgrade work undertaken by QBuild.
- Ensure a healthy and safe work environment is maintained on worksites, ensuring compliance with current human resource practices and principles.
- Undertaking Workplace Health and Safety audits of contractors to ensure compliance with QBuild's Safety Management System and associated Key Performance Indicators.
- Promoting QBuild to existing and prospective clients and identifying opportunities for new business services based on emerging economic, legislative and environmental requirements.
- Developing and maintaining a close liaison with clients to ensure product and service delivery meet agreed outcomes.
- Proactively manage the work performance and personal conduct of your staff.
Additional requirements:
Mandatory
- Carpentry trade certificate/qualification (minimum of Carpentry Certificate III)
- Current Workplace Health & Safety General Safety Induction Card.
Highly Desirable
- Thorough knowledge of the Building Construction Industry, including quality assurance, building project management and contract administration.
