The Principal Advisor, Health Equity is an essential leadership role within the Office of the Commissioner, dedicated to creating an integrated and coordinated health system focused on health equity reform. Reporting to the Executive Manager, QAS Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Safety Unit, the Principal Advisor provides appropriate governance and organisational support regarding co-designed community partnerships for service delivery tailored to meet the changing and specific health care needs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in diverse geographical areas.

We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:

• Demonstrate knowledge of the Queensland Health's (QH) Making Tracks Together, the HEALTHQ32 and First Nations First Strategy 2032 and how to align and deliver objectives of the QAS Strategy 2022-2027 to improve health equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities policies relating to QH's health equity reform agenda, QAS CCAP, QH RtR and

• Demonstrated experience in undertaking research, analysis, evaluation and reporting on policies and procedures relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander affairs and programs with positive outcomes
• Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders from diverse geographical and cultural backgrounds, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait
• Islander communities to provide individualised support on sensitive cultural matters.
• Strong human-centred interpersonal skills and experience with highly developed communication, negotiation, consultation and collaboration skills working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders.
• Demonstrated understanding of the cultural sensitivities required to build, maintain and/or repair the relationships required to develop and deliver innovative and effective solutions, to maintain best practice and achieve expected organisational outcomes.
• Understanding of the role of healthcare delivery frameworks, primary health models of care, chronic disease systems and care, evidence-based practice, culturally safe healthcare delivery and service.

The following mandatory requirements, special conditions and/or other requirements apply to this role:

• Whilst not mandatory, the possession of relevant tertiary or postgraduate qualifications in business or health disciplines and/or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culturally safe organisational practice, with relevant experience would be highly regarded.
• The incumbent may be required to travel on official business and work outside of business hours as required, including weekends.
