About the role:
As the Principal Program Officer, you will:
• Lead a team to manage, monitor and review projects, programs and systems that directly support the implementation of government priorities. You will also support collaboration with industry and community stakeholders and focus on training outcomes and pathways linked to employment.
• Develop, implement, and monitor a range of operational policies and practices that promote best practice across departmental operations, including program delivery, stakeholder engagement and events.
• Carry out performance reporting and analysis using contemporary recording and reporting frameworks to guide strategic decisions, resource management and local planning.
• Undertake key supervisory and leadership duties through mentoring and coaching, actively supporting professional development, while demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and leading by example.
• Represent the department at forums, working parties and committees, establish networks, and build and maintain positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Prepare reports, briefing papers, letters, speeches, and promotional materials and maintain detailed, accurate and up-to-date distribution and stakeholder databases.
What we are looking for:
The position requires an applicant who:
• Demonstrates high-level program and project management skills, along with expert knowledge of, or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of, the vocational education and training (VET) sector in Queensland.
• Applies highly developed conceptual, analytical, research and computer skills, as demonstrated by your ability to analyse information, data and trends; present findings through reports and presentations; and contribution to department objectives.
• Builds and sustains effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure business objectives are achieved and performance targets are met.
• Applies well-developed planning and organisational skills, including the ability to meet expectations and deadlines by delivering results and completing work accurately within set timeframes and accountability frameworks.
• Demonstrates effective communication, consultation and negotiation skills, including the ability to provide independent written and verbal advice to senior officers on diverse issues.
