You will lead the team to drive the development of a comprehensive Tourism Investment Prospectus aligned to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the long-term vision set out in the Destination 2045 plan.
Collaborating with government and industry stakeholders to develop and implement initiatives to increase investment and reinvestment in tourism infrastructure including short-term accommodation, hotels, resorts, theme parks and attractions, and access infrastructure such as airports and cruise ship terminals.
Strategically driving and leading the team to attract and facilitate private sector investment into tourism infrastructure including accommodation, built attractions, eco-tourism, authentic cultural experiences, and access infrastructure.

As Director you will:
• Strategically lead and manage the Tourism Investment Attraction and Facilitation team multi-disciplinary project teams to research impediments and gaps in the supply of new tourism infrastructure and attract, facilitate and deliver investment into new or revitalised tourism infrastructure, ensuring timely responses to industry issues by connecting tourism developers with relevant local, state and federal government agencies, service providers and investors.
• Contribute to implementation of the Whole-of-Government tourism strategy, policy, regulatory reform and land-use planning reforms to overcome the barriers to tourism infrastructure development in partnership with the tourism industry and other government agencies.
• Assist tourism proponents to become “Investment Ready” including advice on investment information, business case and investment pitch and case manage tourism investment projects using project management methodology to deliver timely, high quality project outcomes, managing risks and emerging issues and document preparation.
• Strategically identify tourism investment/reinvestment opportunities in Queensland through developing and maintaining relationships with key Government agencies across Federal, State and Local Government.
• Support key inbound and outbound investment missions, conferences and events (including DestinationQ conference) and one-on-one meetings with investors to attract domestic and international investors.
• Oversee the development of investment collateral to promote Queensland as a tourism investment destination and to showcase Queensland tourism infrastructure investment opportunities.
• Strategically lead the implementation of strategies to facilitate development of private sector tourism investment opportunities including short-term accommodation, built attractions, eco-tourism, authentic cultural experiences and access infrastructure.
• Lead and foster strong and effective stakeholder relationships, and negotiate extensively within the departmental portfolio, with local, state and federal agencies, industry, clients and with other key stakeholders to build commitment to the long-term growth of Queensland's tourism industry.
• Represent the department and Government (where required) at a range of national, state and regional forums that require a content specific perspective to enhance Queensland's economic competitiveness and performance in relation to tourism industry development and innovation.
• Provide timely, high-level briefings, submissions, reports, correspondence and presentations on a range of tourism policy and program issues to Senior Management, the Minister, other government agencies and key stakeholders.
• Participate as a member of the Tourism Leadership Team in the development and promotion of Tourism's vision and implementation of Tourism's strategic agenda.
• Effectively manage change, people, financial and physical resources, underpinned by a culture of client service, continuous improvement according to the Tourism Division Values, Queensland Government Public Service Values and the Reframing the Relationship Plan.
• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.
