Senior Engineer
Operational Technologies; Statewide Network Operations; Infrastructure Management and Delivery; Flexible - Townsville or Cairns
We are seeking an Engineer who is a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), to join our team and lead the maintenance and delivery of the Intelligent Transport Systems & Electrical infrastructure in regional Queensland, and
to use this infrastructure to support optimal traffic operations.
We offer a flexible 36.25-hour week, work from home options, generous RPEQ reimbursement, accrued time off, time off in lieu for work outside of standard hours, 12.75% superannuation, and an EBA that provides for regular pay increases + more.
The location of this role is flexible; you can be based in Cairns or Townsville.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
Some of your responsibilities as Senior Engineer (Road Operations) will include:
• Provision of expert strategic and technical advice on ITS&E assets and ITS design suitability and options.
• Provide traffic engineering advice and support services (including traffic modelling and review of traffic analysis) to internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure the proper working health of all ITS&E assets and systems, and the operational management and configuration of the traffic signal network.
• Project manage and/or contract manage the delivery of ITS&E infrastructure within time, quality, cost and stakeholder expectations, whilst ensuring traffic engineering and design suitability are in accordance with specifications and standards.
• Prepare professional and technical advice, correspondence, submissions and plans relating to major projects and improving the efficient operation of the transport
network.
• Mentor and supervise the work of non-RPEQ team members and coordinate resource allocation to encourage effective teamwork and foster a positive attitude toward the achievement of organisational objectives.
ABOUT YOU:
Our ideal candidate will have:
• Specialist knowledge of traffic signal and ITS design, installation, asset management, project delivery and contract management.
• Strong analytical and technical skills to foster continuous improvement in the efficiency of systems and technologies to enhance decision making to manage risk.
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills coupled with the ability to articulate complex problems, develop ideas and innovative solutions to a variety of audiences and to gain commitment from key stakeholders to support ideas or take action.
• The ability to proactively build long-term working relationships with partners inside and outside the department.
• The capability to inspire and sustain team cohesion, engagement and performance by focusing the teams on specific and measurable short- and long-term goals.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS AND CONDITIONS:
• A four-year, Washington Accord accredited, Bachelor of Engineering degree in electrical or civil/traffic or equivalent which is assessed/accepted by Engineers Australia against Washington Accord benchmarks (for engineering roles).
• Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ).
• Current C class driver's license.
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
• Travel within Queensland may be a requirement of the role.

• RPEQ Compensation - Registered Professional engineers may be eligible for a yearly payment of $8,200.
