The OO5 Ranger (Assets) role focusses on being part of a small construction team, that delivers a variety of construction and maintenance tasks across the Northern region which includes Cape York.
This role includes the construction and maintenance of visitor and management infrastructure. Administrative skills are also a requirement of this role with experience in using the Microsoft office suite preferable. The ability to read and follow design drawings, reporting, basic project, and budget management is a requirement. What This Role Involves:
Much of this work is performed across remote parks and locations, where camping is an essential part of the role. Accommodation can vary—it may range from barracks at ranger bases to sleeping under the stars with tarps. You'll need to embrace the unique rewards and challenges that come with working in remote outdoor environments.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Infrastructure Construction and Maintenance: Build and maintain visitor facilities and management infrastructure, ensuring high standards of functionality and presentation.
- Administrative Tasks: Perform reporting duties and basic project and budget management. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite is highly desirable.
- Design Drawings: Accurately interpret and follow design drawings during construction activities.
- Leadership and Teamwork: Work collaboratively within a team while demonstrating strong leadership, communication, and flexibility.
Location and Travel Requirements:
This position is based in Cairns (refer to the Working in Guide and Location Guide for more information); however, regular travel to other locations is a critical component of the role. Rosters vary between five days on, two days off, and 10 days on, four days off, but can be flexible depending on project milestones, constraints, locations, and weather conditions.
Team members should be prepared for extended periods away from home—sometimes up to three weeks in a month—making experience in remote travel and remote work highly desirable.
