About the role:
As a PO3 Lawyer in the Human Rights, Anti-Discrimination and Employment Law Practice, you will deliver high quality advice and representation for clients with diverse and complex civil law matters in courts and tribunals. This is your opportunity to take on a challenging, fulfilling role in a supportive workplace that values inclusion and innovation.
In this role, you will represent clients in civil law cases by preparing matters, instructing counsel, and appearing in courts, tribunals, commissions, mediations, and conciliation conferences. You'll provide legal advice, minor assistance, and information through various channels such as phone, videoconference, and face-to-face interactions. You will also communicate effectively with clients who may have complex needs, applying trauma-informed practice principles. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to improving legal processes through innovative case management practices and policy or law reform initiatives. Building and maintaining strong networks with internal and external stakeholders while supporting other team members with civil law enquiries will also be key aspects of your role.
What we're looking for:
To succeed in this role, you will:
- Have knowledge or demonstrated ability to quickly develop knowledge of civil law areas such as Consumer Protection, Administrative Appeals, Anti-Discrimination Law, Employment Law, and other areas of focus within Civil Justice Services.
- Are capable and willing to represent clients at conciliations, tribunals, and courts.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Seek continuous improvement while demonstrating integrity, accountability, and sound judgement.
Mandatory requirements
- Admission or immediate eligibility for admission as a legal practitioner in Queensland.
- Eligibility for a current practising certificate and inclusion on the High Court Register of Practitioners.
- Disclosure of any banning orders under s73ZN of the NDIS Act 2013 (if applicable) and potential conflicts of interest.
