Role details
Mackay Base Hospital's Women's and Children's Services is currently seeking a suitably qualified candidate for the permanent role of Director of Nursing and Midwifery Operations.

Please note: The successful applicant must hold a Bachelor of Midwifery, or equivalent qualification relevant to the position is mandatory.
Your opportunity
The Director of Midwifery, Nursing and Operations is part of the senior management team for operations at Mackay Base Hospital, and across the HHS for specified portfolios and programs.
The Director of Midwifery, Nursing and Operations has responsibility for midwifery and nursing staff across expansive clinical services and complex patient demographics across MHHS. The role provides:
- Professional expertise in operations, midwifery and nursing leadership for the overall planning, coordination and direction of evidence-based midwifery and nursing services within the portfolio of Operations Mackay and relevant HHS portfolios, to ensure safe, clinically effective, consumer-centred midwifery and nursing care.
- Leadership and management of all midwifery and nursing staff reporting to the position.
- Leadership in midwifery and nursing care to facilitate quality patient outcomes in accordance with National Safety and Quality Health Service standards, professional standards and organisational policies and procedures.
- Support to the Executive Director of Operations and Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery role.

The Women's and Children's Services operates through a family centred and children friendly partnership framework. There is a framework in place for our Women's and Children's Services to operate a Co-Design philosophy, that involves working in partnership with maternity consumers, the community and our staff to develop a contemporary women centred model of maternity care and leading into the Children's Services.

Mackay Hospital and Health Service has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,700 staff. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.
