As Senior Advisor (Finance), you will assist the Manager in providing quality financial management and reporting to senior management and business areas across the State of Queensland within the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and Partnerships division. You'll be passionate about all things finance, including budget allocations, funding submissions, financial trends, financial legislation and financial reporting, particularly with regards to the State Budget process.
We're looking for the best suited applicant for the role. We'll do this by assessing your eligibility and your ability to undertake the requirements of the role (including, where relevant, the way you carried out previous roles). As the Senior Advisor (Finance) you will:
• Lead a functional team that encourages innovation and a ‘high performance' team culture.
• Build the capability of staff within the team to sustain performance and meet current and future demands through effective coaching, mentoring and professional development strategies.
• Prepare complex written communication such as submissions, briefings, reports and other correspondence on financial matters.
• Establish and deliver effective financial training and development programs within the Division.
• Develop and maintain positive, constructive relationships with clients, auditors, external stakeholders and management.
• Ensure the provision of expert financial advice to management and staff by maintaining current knowledge of financial legislation and relevant policies and procedures, particularly with regards to revenue management.
• Assist with preparation of the divisional budget, including funding submissions, allocation methodologies, revenue estimates, budget loading and monthly reporting.
• Analyse financial variations, trends and outcomes and provide high level advice and reports to management.
• Develop systems and procedures to ensure that revenue collection is correctly undertaken throughout the Division, including annual fee review, invoicing and debt management, and receipting of funds in financial systems.
• Oversee debt management strategies within the Division.
• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.
