About the Role

As the Data and Analytics Manager at QLeave, you will lead a small, dedicated team to deliver meaningful insights and drive data-led decision-making across our organisation. Your work will directly contribute to improving service delivery and ensuring the long-term sustainability of Queensland's portable long service leave schemes.

Reporting to the Director, Technology, Data and Building Services, you will provide strategic leadership, guidance and technical advice for QLeave's data strategy, data governance, oversee contemporary analytics platforms, and enable key decision-making through robust data analysis, modelling, and visualisation.

You'll also play a key role on QLeave's leadership team, helping to shape the organisation's future through evidence-based insight and continuous improvement including the identification, access, validation, storage and protection of relevant datasets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the Data and Analytics team, developing capability and fostering a culture of high performance, innovation and continuous learning.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of QLeave's analytics and business intelligence (BI) environment, ensuring governance, accessibility and reliability.
  • Drive organisation-wide use of data to improve planning, performance evaluation and service outcomes.
    Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver tailored, fit-for-purpose insights and visualisations.
  • Prepare expert advice, models, and reports to inform operational improvements and strategic investments.
  • Promote data integrity, metadata management and system integration in line with best practice.
  • Proactively identify development opportunities for your team and manage performance expectations to support organisational goals.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking an experienced, future-focused leader who brings strong technical capability and an ability to lead through influence.

You will ideally demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in data analytics, business intelligence, modelling and strategic reporting.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build team capability and manage performance.
  • Advanced skills in data visualisation and analysis using tools like Power BI, SQL, and cloud-based platforms.
  • Knowledge of data governance, system integration, and metadata management.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and the ability to translate data into meaningful insights that influence decision-makers.
  • Strategic thinking and sound judgment in applying data to support corporate priorities.
  • Experience in strategic-level data management and the design and implementation of business intelligence solutions in a complex service delivery organisation.
  • High level facilitation and engagement skills, with a proven ability to develop effective working and strategic relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.

There are no mandatory qualifications for this role. However, relevant experience or certifications in analytics, data science, IT or public sector management will be well regarded.
