Senior Prosecutor (Youth Justice)

You will work within a team of specialist youth justice prosecutors providing a professional prosecution service, including the analysis and review of bail decisions, representation in the Supreme Court on bail review matters, and the provision of legal advice to members of the Service on youth justice-related matters.

Your key accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
• Provide a prosecution service for the area of responsibility.
• Monitor the provision of court material by police for use in Magistrate Court proceedings and Supreme Court applications to ensure the highest quality of court material is maintained.
• Liaise, consult and negotiate with members of the Queensland Police Service, the legal profession, government agencies and the community towards the establishment of effective working relationships and achievement of desired policing outcomes.
• Take a lead role in the development and provision of quality legal research, argument, submissions, training and advice.
• Manage resources in accordance with Service policy to achieve efficient operations for the area of responsibility
• Establish, model maintain high standards of performance and conduct in daily work activities.
• Undertake coordination activities for Specialist Courts and diversionary initiatives as directed by the Superintendent.
• Review and evaluate youth bail decisions and record timely and accurate data with respect to bail outcomes.
Role Requirements
Mandatory
• Admission as, eligibility for immediate admission as, or entitlement to practice as, a legal practitioner in the State of Queensland
