This role is responsible for the daily operations of HASTUS, including the management of data for other systems which deliver essential Translink services such as ticketing and real-time information. You will play a key role in assisting with the management of the department's open data and accessibility information, working closely with the Digital, Passenger Transport Systems and Business Intelligence and Performance teams. You will also collaborate with Translink's network planning and service delivery teams to ensure the provision of effective provision of bus, rail, and ferry services.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the development and maintenance of stop/station accessibility data, ensuring the information remains current and accurate across relevant systems and platforms.
- Assisting in maintaining data interfaces and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, while safeguarding the quality and integrity of data used in ticketing, real-time systems, reporting, and open data.
- Contributing to network scheduling improvements by identifying opportunities, analysing operator cost models, and recommending solutions that enhance business efficiency and operational savings.
- Providing support for HASTUS system operations, including input into strategy and business processes, and assisting with the development, customisation, and implementation of modules such as Geo, Vehicle, Crew, HASTOP, and NetPlan.
- Supporting open data initiatives and operational analysis, contributing to the delivery of Translink's open data strategy, reviewing datasets for continuous improvement, and interpreting relevant legislation and guidelines to inform scheduling practices.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
- Experience using HASTUS or similar transport scheduling systems.
Highly desirable qualifications and conditions
- Experience and knowledge of working with open data and managing/publishing content.
- Experience using Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook as well as analytic tools use to view, check, and validate a variety of data formats.
- Knowledge or experience in programming languages such as Python.
Requirements of the role
- Ensure the continued provision, quality, and integrity of data for systems including ticketing, real-time, reporting, and open data.
- Demonstrated experience in the implementation, development, maintenance, and operation of HASTUS and a broad knowledge of the systems associated modules.
- Well-developed and proven capacity to review existing transit networks, route development, and rationalisation relevant to the efficient and economic operation of public transport. This includes interpreting relevant legislation, network planning guidelines, industrial awards, contractual obligations, EBA provisions and operator business rules.
- Ability to gain insight into issues by critically analysing the available data and information. Accepts decision-making responsibility and demonstrates judgement about when to escalate issues.
- Welcomes challenges in the delivery of work and demonstrates persistence in overcoming obstacles. Must be able to work autonomously, prioritise workloads, and respond to issues in a timely manner while maintaining attention to detail.
