We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Manager to lead the Townsville Work Health and Safety Compliance and Field Services team of inspectors and administration staff. This role is responsible for enhancing service delivery, managing resources and fostering a high-performing and safe workplace.

As the Operations Manager you will work autonomously and lead the Townsville team in the WHS Compliance and Field Services directorate.
About the team
Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) enforces work health and safety laws, investigates workplace fatalities, serious injuries, prosecutes breaches of legislation and educates employees and employers on their legal obligations.
We're responsible for improving work health and safety in Queensland and helping to reduce the risk of workers being killed or injured on the job. We do this by making sure work health and safety laws are followed, investigating work-related fatalities and serious injuries, educating workplaces on ways to comply with legislation, taking legal action when work health and safety laws are broken and educating employees and employers on their legal obligations.
Your key responsibilities
Specific responsibilities are outlined in the position description for this role but generally, you'll have strong written, time management and stakeholder engagement and management skills. Experience in applying workplace health and safety protocols in community enforcement or other such regulatory enforcement would be highly regarded.
This role will challenge and develop your ability to engage with stakeholders, partner and educate the community in safety matters and ensure compliance within a regulatory framework.
