The Principal Policy Officer (AO7) supports the work of the Infrastructure Investment Branch in planning for and investing into the renewal and revitalisation of existing TAFE assets, building new TAFE facilities and undertake strategic analysis of regional needs.
About the role
As the Principal Policy Officer, you will:
- Support the Director, Infrastructure Investment in strategic planning (including town planning), reporting and high-level research, underpinned by strong data analysis to help deliver ongoing government priorities and investments into building, renewing and revitalising TAFE infrastructure.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of major capital projects within the TAFE infrastructure portfolio by providing high-level policy analysis, regional planning advice, stakeholder engagement and integrated project management services, aligned with government investment priorities and organisational objectives.
- Evaluate qualitative and quantitative data to provide strategic reporting and market analysis to guide infrastructure investment decisions for a TAFE asset portfolio valued at approximately $2.7 billion.
- Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of strategic policy documents, including Cabinet submissions, Cabinet Budget Review Committee papers, reports, briefs and correspondence to inform Ministers and senior executives on key issues impacting decision-making.

The position requires an applicant who can:
- Think strategically by planning ahead, aligning long-term goals with current priorities, and understanding the broader environment and its key drivers to identify issues likely to impact on the achievement of organisational goals.
- Demonstrate well-developed consultation and negotiation skills with experience building and maintaining collaborative, productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Apply high-level communication skills to effectively produce high-quality, complex reports, discussion papers and submissions for different audiences, while delivering clear verbal briefings to senior leaders and engaging presentations to stakeholders.
