DETSI is seeking to appoint a Principal Environmental Officer who possesses relevant qualifications and experience in geology and/or geochemistry that can be applied to industrial and mining processes, along with an understanding of matters such as mining waste management, storage and disposal.
The position is aligned to the Minerals Business Centre, Environmental Services and Regulation which is responsible in undertaking statutory assessment functions for mineral mining and downstream mineral mining projects across Queensland.
Assessment functions under the Environmental Protection Act 1994 include assessment and decision making around applications relating to environmental authorities, progressive rehabilitation and closure plans and estimated rehabilitation costs.

The role may be undertaken from our Office locations at either Cairns, Townsville or Brisbane, but you may be required to travel to other locations, including overnight.
