Principal Management Accountant
Finance: Corporate Services; Brisbane
The Finance team within the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business provides a range of financial services and advice to divisional areas to effectively manage departmental budgets and enable strategic decision-making in alignment with the CDSB Strategic Plan.
As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for overseeing client budgets, producing monthly reports, providing high-level financial services, analytics, and advice principally to the Data and Digital Government division.
This position is part of the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business (CDSB) as part of the recent Machinery-of-Government changes. CDSB is currently in negotiations for a certified agreement to cover all CDSB employees. In the meantime, the Core Agreement conditions apply to this position.

Your responsibilities
As the Principal Accountant, you will:
- Manage and contribute to the development and delivery of management accounting services such as budgeting, financial management and performance reporting, including presentations to key stakeholders.
- Develop detailed costing models, accurate forecasts and high-quality financial reports to support the departmental decision making.
- Provision of the financial management requirements of the annual State Budget including the preparation of the Service Delivery Statement and Estimates Committee briefs.
- Manage budget and funding reconciliations between CBRC, TRIDATA and departmental budgets.
- Maintain and develop constructive, collaborative working relationships with clients and stakeholders through participating in regular client meetings and maintaining frequent communication to appreciate and resolve emergent financial issues.
- Coordinate team activities and those of key clients and stakeholder groups to ensure all services are completed in a timely, accurate and effective manner.
- Lead and inspire a team to deliver services in a customer focused, efficient and innovative way.
- Promote and support a workplace culture of equity, diversity, respect and inclusion, and proactively manage the work performance and personal conduct of your two direct reports.
