As a Data Scientist (AO6) in Queensland Treasury's Strategic Information Branch (SIB), you'll work with cutting-edge analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to solve complex challenges that shape Queensland's policies, programs, and initiatives. In this role, you will:
- Analyse and interpret complex datasets to deliver actionable insights.
- Develop and maintain intuitive data visualisations and dashboards for stakeholders.
- Design and implement AI-driven solutions to solve real-world challenges.
- Enhance data pipelines and workflows for efficient data processing and analysis.
- Provide expert advice on data science and analytics to support decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and ethical standards.
What experience you will bring:
- Expertise in collecting, analysing, and reporting complex datasets using tools like SQL, Power BI, or similar, to deliver high-quality insights under tight timeframes.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, with experience leveraging cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure or AWS for data science, analytics, visualisation, and AI-driven solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to apply Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning techniques to develop innovative, data-driven outcomes that address real-world challenges.
- Strong understanding (or ability to quickly acquire) of Treasury operations, including fiscal, economic, and statistical models, to support evidence-based decision-making.
- Exceptional communication skills to simplify complex data and deliver compelling narratives tailored to diverse audiences, alongside the ability to work in an agile manner within a dynamic environment.
There are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, however, relevant qualifications in data science, computer science, information systems, information technology, engineering or a related field are highly regarded.
