The Office of the Director-General (ODG) supports the Director-General to lead the department to deliver high quality sustainable services, programs, policy and corporate objectives that align with the priorities and policies of the Government of the day. The ODG is a fast-paced, high-volume environment that provides high-level strategic and operational advice and executive services to the Director-General and Department. The ODG maintains and facilitates high-level communication and liaison with the Minister’s Office, other Government departments and agencies, and private sector organisations.

As the Principal Coordinator you will:
• Support the Director-General and Executive Director, ODG through the provision of strategic policy advice, analysis and support on complex policy and operational issues as well as complex, sensitive and confidential submissions and reports.
• Assist in leading the development of a departmental position on whole-of-agency and whole-of-government issues.
• Monitor and provide advice on a diverse range of issues across the agency, to identify and deliver appropriate analysis and advice to support the government's science, conservation and environmental agenda.
• Liaise and negotiate across divisions on a range of issues to ensure whole-ofdepartment outcomes are achieved.
• Develop positive, effective working relationships with staff and senior officers across the department to build the collective capability of the department, drive cultural change and foster innovation.
• Write and edit correspondence, and prepare products including briefing notes, submissions, reports, correspondence and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations peoples of Australia.
For this role, you'll need:
• proven ability to gather insights, critically analyse and embrace new ideas, making considered recommendations and decisions informed by an understanding of the broader context
• proven ability to build and sustain relationships including liaising and negotiating with diverse stakeholders to deliver outcomes.
