Policy, within The Cabinet Office in the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, plays a central role in addressing Queensland's economic, environmental, social and law and justice issues. As a Policy Officer, Economic Policy you will assist with the identification, development and implementation of integrated policies, legislation and programs. You will partner with internal and external stakeholders to develop best
practice, strategic policy advice to inform decision-making across a range of policy areas. As part of a central agency, you will provide policy advice to the Premier and Cabinet. You will be part of a small, dynamic team that provides leadership on policy issues relevant to the transport and infrastructure portfolios, within the broader Economic Policy group. In doing so, you will contribute to innovative policy development that helps to deliver the government's priorities, support the development of longer-term policy directions and provide strategic advice and policy analysis to the Premier and Cabinet.
In this role you will get the opportunity to:
• Assist in identifying, developing and analysing complex policy options and advice on major economic policy issues
• Provide input to the monitoring and evaluation of policy development activities
• Manage requests for policy information, including the preparation of responses
• Prepare or contribute to the preparation of timely and well researched submissions, and on complex policy issues, including Cabinet submissions
• Liaise with other areas of the division, government departments, and nongovernment organisations on relevant policy issues
• Assist senior officers with the preparations for inter-departmental meetings, in conjunction with senior officers and represent the department at meetings as required.
Candidates should demonstrate experience in managing complex issues in a dynamic environment, taking responsibility for discrete areas of work, and collaborating as part of a larger team to deliver strategic priorities. Good knowledge of Cabinet processes and decision making and possession of relevant tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded.
