Key Responsibilities:
As Senior Advisor, Strategic Projects and Oversight Liaison you will specifically:
- Coordinate and contribute to the development and implementation of strategic projects and initiatives related to youth detention reform and oversight, ensuring alignment with departmental priorities and governance frameworks.
- Undertake research and analysis of operational issues, including oversight recommendations, and work with relevant internal business areas to develop evidence-based strategic and operational solutions requiring a departmental response.
- Prepare high-quality written materials including reports, briefings, ministerial correspondence, and responses to oversight bodies, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage components of youth detention reform initiatives, including project planning, stakeholder engagement, development of documentation, and preparation of high-quality materials, while supporting the monitoring of timelines and performance measures to track progress and outcomes.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including youth detention centres, oversight bodies, and advocacy groups, to ensure collaborative approaches to reform and effective communication of project objectives.
- Assist in the development and implementation of governance tools, such as tracking systems for recommendations and reporting frameworks.
- Provide advice to the Manager and Director on complex youth detention service delivery issues, including emerging trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Demonstrate cultural capability and a commitment to human rights by contributing to improved outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.
