Based in Mackay or Townsville, this AO8 Manager role is part of the leadership group within Land Services, overseeing a team of 16 across multiple locations. This is a fast-paced leadership role that requires strong decision-making, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to guide a skilled team delivering outcomes that shape Queensland’s land future.
Our Land division are the stewards for 60% of the land in Queensland and we deliver a variety of land and property services across Queensland, including land and asset valuations; state land administration and on ground management surveying services; native title claims and compensation; Indigenous land services; vegetation management; place names; and government land acquisitions. Based in Townsville or Mackay, this permanent full-time AO8 Manager role in Land Services is a key leadership position. You'll oversee the assessment and determination of land tenure applications, making sound and timely decisions that balance government and community needs.
You'll review complex land dealings, exercise delegated authority and provide strategic advice to senior leaders on emerging issues. Working with team leaders and experts, you'll resolve high priority matters and negotiate outcomes with stakeholders across industry, local government and the community. Representing the department at meetings, you'll advocate for sustainable land use while building strong and productive relationships.
As a leader, you'll mentor and guide your team, support performance and capability development, and apply effective workforce planning and risk management to keep services responsive. You'll also prepare and review reports, briefing notes and submissions for executives and ministers, delivering clear and practical advice.
This role will suit a strategic thinker and confident decision-maker who enjoys leading teams, managing complexity and driving positive outcomes in a high-volume environment.
