Your new opportunity
As Principal Economist in the Economic Policy team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering expert economic advice to the Queensland Government on critical policy areas, including home ownership. You will lead a professional and capable team, collaborate with government agencies and external stakeholders, and foster a positive and vibrant team culture. By providing strategic direction and influencing policy agendas, you will contribute to the development of economically responsible public policy that supports Queensland's long-term economic growth.
In this role, you will:
- Support the Executive Director in leading and managing the team's responsibilities and functions.
- Collaborate with Queensland public sector agencies to influence policy agendas and deliver sound public policy.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to address complex economic issues.
- Provide strategic direction for research, analysis, and economic policy advice, including home ownership.
- Oversee and review the preparation of reports, economic modelling, and policy submissions.
- Represent Queensland Treasury on intergovernmental committees and working groups.
- Coordinate whole-of-government processes and advocate for Treasury's interests.
What experience you will bring:
- Proven ability to lead and provide expert analysis, modelling and advice on complex economic policies and frameworks, including home ownership.
- Strong judgement, authority, and influence to manage client requirements and team priorities effectively.
- Demonstrated capability in preparing and guiding the delivery of complex reports, submissions, and correspondence within tight timeframes.
- Experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing junior staff to build a motivated and capable team.
Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, relevant qualifications will be highly regarded.
