Your new opportunity
Are you ready to make a difference in Queensland's economy? As a Senior System Developer within the Motor Accident Insurance Commission (MAIC), you'll play a critical role in delivering innovative technical solutions that support the administration of Queensland's Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance scheme.
Working in a small, dynamic in-house development team, you'll collaborate with agile cross-functional teams to design, build, and enhance core business applications. Your work will directly contribute to the efficiency, security, and effectiveness of key systems that underpin MAIC's and the Nominal Defendant's operations. This is your chance to bring your technical expertise, innovative mindset, and commitment to quality service delivery to a role that truly makes an impact.
In this role, you will:
• Lead coding and software development activities, including technical system design, manual and automated testing, and code reviews, to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Contribute to application development practices by documenting specifications, building in-house knowledge, and advising on system infrastructure and integrations.
• Support project management and delivery processes, including security, compliance, audit, and risk management activities, while driving innovation and automation.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, facilitating open communication and working within cross-functional agile teams to achieve shared goals.
What experience you will bring:
To succeed in this role, you'll demonstrate:
• Excellent knowledge of low-code technologies (Appian), Business Process Modelling (BPM), Oracle and SQL server databases, Java, Ruby/Python, Cucumber, Angular, .Net, integrations, APIs, Test Driven Development (TDD), and automated regression testing.
• A strong track record of delivering timely and high-quality business solutions in a rapid development, test-and-learn environment.
• A solid understanding of application development, design and coding principles, database management, and best practices for integration and infrastructure deployment.
• Experience in applying cyber security principles, data governance, privacy, and compliance standards in application development.
• The ability to work collaboratively, think innovatively, and develop creative solutions to complex challenges in dynamic and ambiguous environments.
There are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, however, relevant tertiary qualifications in computer science, information technology, engineering or similar will be highly regarded.
Knowledge of statutory insurances schemes, personal injuries insurance and/or the general insurance sector will be favourably viewed.
Experience in the use of Appian with a minimum 3 years' development experience will be highly regarded.
