We're looking for a motivated and capable professional to join QCS as a Staff Officer, Policy and Legal, supporting the Assistant Commissioner in one of the department's most dynamic leadership teams.
This permanent Brisbane-based AO7 role is your opportunity to work on complex, high-impact matters that shape the legal and policy framework for correctional services across Queensland. Our Policy and Legal Command plays a key role in delivering strategic legal frameworks, advice and high-level operational policy across the agency. Within this, the Workforce Culture, Integrity and Capability Division focuses on building a culture of integrity, inclusion and innovation — and your role sits at the heart of that work.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Staff Officer, you'll work closely with the Assistant Commissioner and Directors to deliver on high-value initiatives and strategies across the Command.
This includes:
- Coordinating strategic projects and workforce initiative
- Preparing executive briefs, reports and ministerial correspondence
- Providing insight and advice on operational and legal issues
- Managing operational planning and input into business strategies
- Representing the Command in inter-agency forums
- Supporting continuous improvement and performance across all business units
- Promoting the Command's work across the wider agency
