This permanent full-time role, based in Brisbane, offers a unique opportunity to oversee the multi-billion-dollar Queensland Rail Capital Plan and contribute to the delivery of a single integrated transport network.
As Manager (Rail Capital), you'll play a pivotal role in managing the Rail Transport Service Contract (Rail TSC), leading a high-performing team, and providing expert advice to senior executives and the Minister. Your work will directly impact infrastructure investment, service delivery, and strategic planning across Southeast Queensland's passenger rail network.
If you're passionate about public transport, thrive in complex stakeholder environments, and bring strong leadership, contract management, and program oversight experience—this is your chance to make a meaningful difference to the lives of Queenslanders.
The role will include but is not limited to;
• Program management including annual program development activities and program oversight of the multi-billion-dollar Queensland Rail capital investment program (Capital Plan), and Infrastructure Services, under the Rail TSC.
• Consult, collaborate, and negotiate with internal and external agencies and represent the department at a variety of forums related to the Rail TSC and the Capital Plan.
• Provide advice to senior executives and the Minister, including preparing periodic Capital Plan and related program and/or project reports, briefing notes and general correspondence, ensuring the provision of accurate, timely and well written materials, targeted to the audience.
• Proactively manage the resolution of issues, which may result in project variations or variations to the Rail TSC.
We recognise and celebrate that everyone is unique and seek the applicant best suited to the role. We will assess your experience, knowledge and acquired skills, as well as your potential for development and your personal qualities. To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
• Ability to guide and support teams, foster collaboration and manage resources effectively
• Experience in managing contracts or programs, including planning reporting or coordination
• Collaboration across different teams, organisation or communities
• Ability to deliver outcomes aligned with organisational objectives
• Sound judgement and have an ability to understand and respond to different perspectives and context.
Joining the Rail Contracts unit will give you a down-to-earth working environment with a highly skilled and collaborative team, along with competitive remuneration, training and benefits. There will be a wide range of opportunities for you to grow and develop your skills and progress your career.
Applications will remain current for 12 months.
