QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.
About the role
You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by providing exceptional operational management of our Far West District region.
Duties and skills involved:
- Managing staff, physical and financial resources in accordance with the department's service delivery framework including relevant legislation, strategic objectives, policies, and contemporary best practice standards
- Take responsibility for the district in assisting the Regional Director in establishing annual budgets, performance indicators and manage the physical and financial activities of the district to achieve agree performance targets, customer expectations and Government priorities.
- Partner with customers across the sector to plan programs of work across financial years and across agencies.
- In partnership with the leadership team, effectively & efficiently deliver programs of work across the region to meet customer needs.
- Through effective use, management and growth of industry capability and expertise, use strategic procurement and contract management to implement programs of work ensuring value for money for customers and Queensland.
- Provide financial management including the ability to analyse cross agency financial spend for the building, construction and maintenance category in order to make efficient and customer focussed decisions and recommendations.
- Actively participate in, and where appropriate, lead local area forums with government and non-government stakeholders, promoting a positive and accountable public image and the development of productive partnerships to support service delivery outcomes by:
- Providing local support and encouragement to industry
- Working with Members of Parliament and local Councils
- Collaborating with government and non-government agencies to achieve effective service delivery outcomes at the local and regional level.
- Providing proactive high-level support, advice and information to regional management in relation to the development of service delivery and improvement strategies, staff development and support strategies, and performance agreements
- Proactively manage the work performance and personal conduct of your staff.
