Principal Regulatory Compliance Officer

Regulatory Services is responsible for administering legislation that impacts on providers of community housing, residential services, manufactured homes, and retirement villages.
You will undertake assessment and analysis of organisational and business specific policies, procedures, forms, registers and other evidence documents related to the registration, accreditation and compliance of organisations and the commission of offences under the associated Acts (Residential Services (Accreditation) Act 2002, Manufactured Homes (Residential Parks) Act 2003, Retirement Villages Act 1999, Housing Act 2003).

What you will be doing:
- Manage a professional team to deliver regulatory services and exercise delegated powers under the legislation that regulates providers of community housing, residential services, manufactured homes and retirement villages.
- Manage and have input into the implementation of operational processes that maintain and support a culture that aligns with the department's strategic objectives.
- Manage complex, sensitive and/or contentious appeals, complaints, investigations and reviews, including where appropriate, exercising the powers of an authorised officer and prepare. comprehensive reports to provide strategic and high- level advice and support to senior management
- Provide strategic and high-level advice to senior management on policy and operational issues and develop appropriate solutions to lead good regulatory practice in the relevant industries we regulate.
- Provide leadership, mentor staff and provide strategic and high-level advice and support to senior management on complaints management policy, procedure and practice, upholding the principles of the department and natural justice.
- Build organisational capability and responsiveness by reviewing data with a view to identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and quality individual and systemic outcomes for the department and its clients.
- Cultivate and sustain positive working relationships through effective communication with senior management, team members, and our customers and being responsive to their needs and expectations.
- Lead the implementation of the initiatives in work plans and operational plans to achieve quality departmental outcomes for industry, consumers and staff.
- Work closely with the relevant policy unit and lead legislative reform across the industry and for consumers impacted by legislation change.
- Support and help maintain a workplace safety culture by ensuring that all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety are applied and a part of day-to-day operations.
