Principal Business Services Officer

Located within the Business Services Team which delivers corporate services and support including finance, human resources, corporate governance and internal audit functions, the Principal Business Services Officer provides high level strategic advice, reporting, information and significant support to the Office of the Deputy Director-General and the Division. The primary function of this position is to provide high level strategic advice and support in relation to complex and diverse financial management to ensure compliance with Queensland Government policies and procedures by delivering accurate insights and advice. The position also takes a leadership role for the Division in budget development, management reporting, resource allocation processes and other various business support services to ensure effective financial, corporate, project and performance management.

• Demonstrated skills and extensive knowledge of the departmental budget process and Public Sector financial management policies and practices and the provisions of the Financial Accountability Act and the Financial Management Standards.
• Demonstrated skills and high-level experience in the operation and maintenance of budget management and financial information systems within large and complex organisations.
• Demonstrated ability to provide specialist leadership on business improvement, including the ability to develop and implement financial management programs that encourage innovation and continuous quality improvement.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing), and negotiate with senior management, staff and external clients.
• Proven ability to research and analyse complex issues and make recommendations as to the appropriate course of action.
• Proven ability to work autonomously or in teams to effectively manage other administrative staff to meet agreed deadlines and outcomes.
• Contribution to workplace equity and diversity that enriches our culture of safety, innovation, respect and inclusion.
