Here at the Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling, you'll be inspired to shape Queensland’s sustainable future, driving innovative programs to boost recycling, reduce litter, and create economic opportunities.
We’re looking for a proactive and passionate Senior Program Officer to lead impactful programs like the Zero Litter to Moreton Bay initiative. In this role, you’ll collaborate with councils, community groups, and industry to deliver funding, drive behaviour change, and achieve meaningful environmental outcomes.
At DETSI, you’ll be inspired and inspire others to make Queensland better. It can be complex and challenging - important work usually is. But your contribution will count, and so will you.

What you'll do: 

- Lead innovative programs like the Zero Litter to Moreton Bay initiative, including grant funding, data collection, and evaluation frameworks.

- Collaborate with councils, community groups, and industry to advance Queensland's Waste Strategy.

- Design and deliver impactful waste reduction and recycling initiatives, behaviour change programs, and research projects.

- Provide expert advice, manage contracts, and track program milestones to achieve meaningful outcomes.

- Prepare reports, briefings, and presentations to inform decision-making and program success.

If you have: 

- Proven experience in environmental programs, grants, or behaviour change initiatives.

- Strong project management, research, and analytical skills.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

- A passion for sustainability and a willingness to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
