Role details

The Work Health and Safety Unit at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Senior Work Health and Safety Advisor to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity

  • The primary purpose of this role is to contribute to the effective development, management, delivery of a professional workplace safety and wellbeing service and workplace rehabilitation and return to work services throughout the MHHS. 
  • This role contributes to and assists in developing, coordination and delivering professional work health and safety risk management requirements and wellbeing services across MHHS to achieve consistent and relevant health and safety practices and performance outcomes. 
  • This role will assist in the implementation, review and report on work safety and wellbeing responses and strategies, policies, guidelines, procedures, and networks consistent with Departmental and Health Service policy.

About the Team

The Work Health and Safety Unit provides work health and safety advisory, support, investigation, audit and assessment services to MHHS service groups, business units and facilities across MHHS. The Work Health and Safety Unit is within the People Portfolio supporting safety and wellbeing initiatives.

Mackay Hospital and Health Service has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,700 staff. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.
