Principal Policy Officer - Workers' Compensation Policy

The Workers' Compensation Policy team within Workers' Compensation Regulatory Services (WCRS) is looking for a Principal Policy Officer to join our dynamic and supportive team. We provide strategic, evidence-informed policy advice to government across all facets of workers' compensation. Our work supports a fair and sustainable scheme that is responsive to the evolving needs of employers and workers.

In this role, you'll take the lead on complex policy projects, contribute to legislative reforms, and provide strategic advice that influences decision-making at the highest levels of government. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to shape the future of workers' compensation in Queensland.

What you'll do:

  • Lead and deliver high-quality policy, research, and legislative projects.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior executives and Ministers.
  • Prepare Cabinet submissions, policy papers, and briefings.
  • Monitor national and international trends to keep Queensland at the forefront of best practice.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across government, industry, and the community.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to a positive team culture.

  • Excellent project management and organisational skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills - written and verbal - to influence and inform diverse audiences.

  • A strategic mindset with a commitment to accountability, transparency, and delivering outcomes.

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field are highly desirable, though not essential.
