As our Principal Engineer (Electrical) you will leverage your deep understanding of Intelligent Transport Systems and electrical infrastructure maintenance and delivery to drive innovation and promote excellence in the development and maintenance of the state's transportation infrastructure. This is a temporary role until 29 May 2026 with possibility of extension.
The ROLE:
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Coordinate, manage and provide extensive electrical technical expertise in multi disciplinary project teams across a portfolio of transport infrastructure, including program development, project management, contract management, ensuring successful delivery of projects and complex issues are managed within agreed time, quality, cost and stakeholder expectations.
• Identify and manage networks and alliances of all stakeholders and manage the expectations and issues of all parties, including identifying possible political and high-risk matters to ensure they are dealt with in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain and apply all relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary to support responsible decisions and courses of action for the design of road infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and deliver professional and technical advice, correspondence, submissions and plans relating to ITS&E projects and road network solutions.
• Mentor and supervise the work of non-RPEQ team members and coordinate resource allocation to encourage effective teamwork and foster a positive attitude toward the achievement of organisational objectives.
About YOU:
You bring extensive experience in Intelligent Transport Systems and electrical infrastructure, paired with strong technical skills to drive continuous improvement. A natural leader, you inspire team cohesion and performance by setting clear goals and empowering ownership of outcomes. With exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, you articulate complex issues effectively and build lasting relationships with stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
• Possession of a degree in engineering from a recognised tertiary institution or equivalent engineering qualifications. Electrical Degree would be highly desirable.
• Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ).
• Current holder of Class C driver's license.
• Travel within Queensland may be a requirement of the role.
• Criminal history screening will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
