In the role of Manager (Freight Coordination) you will oversee the ongoing delivery and governance of Remote Community Freight Contracts (RCFC) freight funding package and other programs that support freight affordability and reliability inQueensland's remote and regional communities. You will be responsible for performance monitoring, reporting and review of freight assistance arrangements, ensuring they continue to deliver value to communities most in need. This includes leading program evaluations, preparing high-quality written advice and recommendations, and supporting decision making through the provision of timely and evidence-based briefing materials.

You will also work with a variety of stakeholders to identify freight needs in remote communities and encourage group ordering and greater efficiency of freight movements. You will engage with stakeholders across TMR and with other state government agencies to co-ordinate activities and programs affecting freight.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Manage the ongoing delivery, oversight and governance of freight coordination programs for remote and regional Queensland communities.
• Monitor program performance, undertake reviews, and provide evidence-based recommendations to support continuous improvement.
• Lead contract management and negotiation activities to ensure freight programs achieve value for money and meet community needs. 
• Prepare high-quality written materials including briefing notes, reports and recommendations to inform decision making.
• Apply appropriate governance arrangements and practices to oversee the freight funding package being delivered through a delivery agent, including performance monitoring, reporting, audit, and adjustment if necessary.
• Build and maintain effective partnerships with councils, retailers, freight service providers and community representatives to support effective program delivery.
• Work with stakeholders across TMR, other Queensland Government agencies and the Commonwealth to coordinate activities affecting freight in remote communities.
• Contribute to the development of long-term freight solutions for remote communities, including support for strategic assessments and future policy options.
• Respond to enquiries about freight coordination programs and assist stakeholders in seeking resolution where possible.
• Provide leadership, guidance and support to staff. 

To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
• Strong written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, concise and well-structured briefing notes, reports and recommendations.
• High-level stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills, including experience working with regional and remote communities.
• Experience in program governance, performance monitoring, analysis, reporting and risk management.
• Experience in working in a strategic freight role and delivering a range of freight related projects.
• Leadership capabilities including the ability to guide staff and foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture. 
• A C class driver's license, as travel will be required for this role.
