Manager, Risk and Assurance


Games Co-ordination; Olympic and Paralympic Games Office; Brisbane CBD

As Manager, Risk and Assurance, within the Olympic and Paralympic Games Office (OPGO) you will play a critical role in supporting the successful delivery of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. You will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Games risk and assurance management, and reporting. This role contributes to whole-of-Games coordination and supports senior Queensland Government stakeholders and Games Governance Groups to manage risk and assurance effectively and make informed, data driven decisions based on timely and accurate reporting. You will report to the Director, Portfolio Management and contribute to the broader Games Coordination unit of OPGO comprising Benefits Realisation and the coordination of planning and delivery responsibilities of Games entities required under the Olympic Host Contract.

As the Manager, Risk and Assurance, in this role you will:

  • Implement and maintain whole-of-Games coordination risk and assurance framework, tools, and processes to support effective oversight and decision-making by senior Games executives and governance groups.
  • Manage the identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting of risks, issues and opportunities across the Brisbane 2032 portfolio, ensuring alignment with best practice and government standards.
  • Develop and maintain a Games portfolio roadmap of assurance activities to identifying and address areas of duplication or gaps, while maintaining visibility of assurance outcomes for the senior Games governance groups.
  • Develop high-quality reports, briefings and dashboards for use by the Games Coordination Executive, senior leaders, and senior Games governance groups, leveraging digital solutions.
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance to stakeholders on risk and assurance, reporting, and performance management practices to support informed planning and delivery of commitments for Brisbane 2032. 
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams within the OPGO to ensure integration of reporting, risk, budget, benefits realisation and Games coordination planning. 
  • Foster strong, collaborative relationships across local, state and federal government agencies, the Organising Committee (OCOG), and other key Games Delivery Partners to facilitate alignment and consistency. 
  • Contribute to a workplace culture based on values and behaviours, ensuring a positive work environment that is safe, healthy, diverse, respectful and inclusive.
