The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is a vital part of Queensland's justice system, representing the State in prosecuting criminal matters across courts such as the High Court of Australia, Supreme Court, District Court, and more. Our work addresses complex and sensitive legal matters, ensuring justice is upheld with professionalism and integrity.
About the role:
As a key member of the Finance and Corporate Support Team, the Senior Corporate Support Officer (Finance) plays a critical role in managing and coordinating financial processing and procurement activities. Reporting to the Manager, Finance & Corporate Support, this position holds a Delegation Authority Level (DAL5) and contributes to the efficient and effective operation of the team.
Key responsibilities:
- Financial management: Oversee financial processing, including accounts receivables and payables, vendor management, preparation and processing of general ledger journals, and accounts reconciliation.
- Procurement coordination: Manage procurement activities, including supplier tender evaluation, selection processes, raising purchase orders, and monitoring purchasing requests.
- Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly financial reports and other business reports as required.
- Asset management: Support the coordination and completion of the annual asset stocktake.
- Stakeholder engagement: Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Team leadership: Supervise, mentor, and support staff within the Finance and Corporate Support Team, ensuring quality control of core functions.
- Process improvement: Innovate by developing, reviewing, and updating procedures and policies to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.
What we're looking for:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional with the following skills, abilities, and cultural capabilities:
- Technical expertise: Demonstrated understanding of accounting and financial management principles, preferably in a public sector context.
- Software proficiency: Experience using accounting software, with SAP experience highly desirable.
- Procurement knowledge: Familiarity with government procurement processes and a Level 2 procurement training certification (or the ability to obtain certification).
- Stakeholder collaboration: Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with corporate support and legal professionals to deliver customer-focused outcomes.
- Accountability: Strong commitment to quality control and reconciliation strategies to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial processes.
- Professional standards: Demonstrates ethical behaviour, cultural capability, and an appreciation for diversity and inclusion principles, ideally developed in a frontline, client-focused role.
There are no mandatory qualification requirements for this role; however, a qualification in business or finance would be highly regarded.
