Business Support Officer

Join the Office of the Deputy Director-General, Corporate Services within the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business. This team provides strategic advice and support to senior executives on corporate business activities. As a valued team member, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Deputy Director-General and Corporate Leadership Team by delivering high-quality coordination, administrative assistance, and operational support to ensure the effective functioning of the office.
This position is part of the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business (CDSB) as part of the recent Machinery-of-Government changes. CDSB is currently in negotiations for a certified agreement to cover all CDSB employees. In the meantime, the Core Agreement conditions apply to this position.

Your Responsibilities
As a Business Support Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Office of the Deputy Director-General, Corporate Services. Your responsibilities will include:
-Coordinating Requests: Managing departmental requests from the Minister's office, Office of the Director-General, and other Corporate Services areas. This includes handling matters such as regional issues, lobbyists, losses, policy consultations, and right to information and privacy search requests.
-Business Support Activities: Providing support across financial, procurement, administrative, and human resource matters. This includes tasks such as mail collection, building access/ID card coordination, travel arrangements, asset management, stocktakes, gifts registration, telecommunications, office equipment, and processing payments via GPEV and corporate card.
-Records Management: Implementing and maintaining effective records management systems, including electronic filing and the ongoing maintenance of physical records.
-Research and Correspondence: Conducting research, preparing correspondence, and supporting projects as directed to enhance the operational effectiveness of the office and division.
-Coordination of Documents: Supporting the office by coordinating correspondence, briefings, reports, and ad-hoc requests.
Ad-Hoc Projects: Undertaking ad-hoc projects and tasks as directed by the Manager.
-Stakeholder Engagement: Building and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Corporate Services, the Minister's office, the Office of the Director-General, other government agencies, and external organisations. This involves consultation, liaison, and negotiation of priorities.
