The Principal Operations Officer provides high level administrative and business support to the Deputy Director-General (DDG) Olympic and Paralympic Games Office (OPGO). This role works in close collaboration with the OPGO leadership team to co-ordinate strategic and operational business support across the business.

As outlined in the role description, prior experience in the planning and delivery of mega-events is highly regarded.

In this role you will:

  • Provide and coordinate high level executive, administrative, and business support to the DDG, OPGO, while ensuring cohesive support across the broader OPGO team.
  • Lead the establishment and ongoing management of the Office of the Deputy Director-General, OPGO. This includes briefing preparation, governance support, and the development of systems, processes, and coordination mechanisms to support OPGO operations.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of effective diary management and travel, as well as the coordination of ministerial, executive, and general correspondence on behalf of the DDG.
  • Deliver high-level written and verbal communication liaison, and negotiation support, ensuring the provision of timely and confidential advice to the DDG, senior leadership, and both internal and external stakeholders and partners.
  • Demonstrate sound judgement in workload prioritisation and task delegation, maintaining performance and responsiveness under pressure and within required timeframes.
  • Provide strategic support in business planning, workforce management, performance reporting, and co- ordination of Parliament, Cabinet and CBRC processes and submissions, delivering high-level executive support to the DDG, OPGO ensuring alignment with executive priorities.
  • Deliver secretariat support for OPGO leadership and working group meetings, including coordination, minute-taking, follow-up of actions, and stakeholder engagement. 
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships across government, departmental teams, and Olympic and Paralympic Games stakeholders to ensure aligned, proactive, and outcomes-focused engagement.
  • Work collaboratively and contribute to the successful delivery of Brisbane 2032 by supporting effective resource management and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Manage and oversee key corporate service functions, including human resources and financial reporting, and manage corporate card usage and reconciliation on behalf of the DDG, OPGO.
  • Contribute to a workplace culture based on values and behaviours, ensuring a positive work environment that is safe, healthy, diverse, respectful and inclusive.
