In the role of Principal Planner (Development Compliance and Support) some of your responsibilities will include:
• Collaborating with TMR development assessment officers, leading and coordinating TMR's input for planning appeals.
• Collaborating with development assessment officers, technical specialists and officers from the State Assessment and Referral Agency (SARA) to progress the assessment of complex development applications that have been escalated.
• Providing responses to requests for specialist town planning and technical advice and support from TMR's development assessment and policy officers, technical specialists and senior management.
• Providing input to policies, codes, technical guidelines and TMR's electronic Development Application Management system to further TMR's interests in development assessment.
• Developing, maintaining and leveraging positive working relationships with your team, other areas of TMR and officers from the SARA as well as, technical specialists, consultants (solicitors, barristers, expert witnesses etc.) and senior management.
To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
• Highly developed town planning and technical knowledge, experience and skills relating to TMR's interests in development assessment and planning appeals.
• Ability to think strategically and critically to identify solutions, and experience pragmatically negotiating outcomes and resolving conflicts in complex scenarios and environments.
• Ability to achieve desired outcomes working collaboratively with stakeholders from a broad spectrum of expertise in your team, across TMR and external to TMR.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, and experience interpreting and communicating complex technical material to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to consistently achieve quality results through professionalism, persistence and time/resource/people management, and experience supporting other team members to achieve the same.
