The Opportunity
As our Departmental Liaison Officer, you will:
• Nurture and maintain effective communication networks within the Department, nMinisterial office, Office of the Director-General and external stakeholders in relation
to identifying and developing a proactive response to emergent and contentious issues.
• Coordinate and prioritise the flow of information between the Ministerial office and the Department to ensure the timely provision of quality and relevant information ensuring that advice is consist with Government policy and departmental objectives and procedures. This includes triaging/prioritising a high-volume electronic mailbox.
• Triage the prioritisation of telephone and email enquiries and complaints from internal and external stakeholders on issues relating to the Department's portfolio.
• Liaise with Members of Parliament, Ministerial and Parliamentary staff, senior managers and staff, representatives of non-government service providers and members of the public on complex and sensitive issues.
• Coordinate the provision of ministerial advice in response to situations requiring a rapid turnaround of information, e.g. urgent media enquiries.
• Identify, research and analyse critical, sensitive and contentious issues and determine the implications from a departmental perspective including negotiating the appropriate process, response and timing to resolve the issues.
• Maintain reporting mechanisms in the Ministerial office, provide verbal briefings at daily and weekly Ministerial-Departmental meetings.
• Coordinate, review and provide high-level written and verbal advice to the Minister and Ministerial staff in relation to Departmental matters.
• Coordinate material for Ministerial visits including sourcing information and liaising with ministerial policy and media advisors, departmental and industry stakeholders, in particular for itineraries and trip briefs.
• Assist the Director, Office of the Director-General to integrate support functions across DLO and Office of the Director-General including identified busines  improvements.
• Provide secretariat function to Minister and Chief of Staff meetings when required.
• Demonstrate high level conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
• Other duties as directed and required.

• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, particularly in-person.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong analysis and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple business processes and anticipate what is required.
• Well-developed knowledge of the Queensland Government and government processes, and exemplary standards of diplomacy, discretion, personal integrity and confidentiality.

• Work outside normal working hours may be required.
