Your role within Housing and Homelessness Services will support the department to deliver services to people who have a disability, long-term health conditions and who
are ageing. The work you will do helps someone every day, and that means the world to us.
Service Delivery, Housing and Homelessness Services provides a range of services, products and referrals to offer housing solutions for diverse customer groups.
As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will be providing a vital service to customers assessing their current and future health, safety and independence requirements and identify solutions for appropriate housing and modifications. You will exercise professional independence whilst working closely with one or more local housing teams and receive professional support from a Principal Occupational Therapist to deliver these services.

TARGETED VACANCY
Degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognised tertiary institution and be registered or eligible for registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
What you will be doing:
Work collaboratively with the local Area Manager/Manager to lead and deliver holistic, place-based and trauma-informed occupational therapy services
Provide specialist occupational therapy assessment, expertise and advice for customers requiring home modifications, transfers, tenancy management or housing assistance
Work closely with allied health or other service partners to flexibly deliver services to customers on-line, by telephone or in person with a focus on safety, service excellence and quality outcomes.
Contribute to the design and review of new accessible social housing properties
Provide a consultative service to Department staff and other agencies about the housing needs of customers who have a disability, long-term health condition or who are ageing
Provide leadership by modelling and fostering professionalism, accountability and ethical behaviour
Support and help maintain a workplace safety culture by ensuring that all policies and practices concerning workplace health and safety are applied and a part of day-to-day operations
Prepare and maintain high quality reports and customer records consistent with departmental and professional requirements
Contribute to professional development, research, team planning and decision making and the continuous improvement of policies and practices
Have the opportunity to supervise students and mentor new staff

The skills you will need include being able to:
Experience in providing occupational therapy services to people with complex needs
Ability to acquire expert proficiency in home modification and housing solutions
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with internal and external stakeholders
A positive and balanced approach to managing conflicting demands and assisting team members to adapt to changing customer needs/expectations
Cultural capability with people from diverse backgrounds
Demonstrated ability to model professional, ethical, and culturally sensitive behaviour and consistently apply those standards to yourself and others.
Mandatory Requirement
Class C Driver's License
Degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognised tertiary institution and be registered or eligible for registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
Flexibility to travel in Queensland is desirable
