The Department of Trade, Employment and Training (DTET) regional network provides localised service delivery across the departmental priority areas of employment and training. The effective departmental service delivery is achieved through the regulation of the state's apprenticeship and traineeship system; strategic training and skills investment strategies; informing consumers about the suite of departmental programs including Skilling Queenslanders for Work; supporting a quality vocational education and training (VET) sector; and providing whole of government leadership on employment and training issues.
About the role:
As the Administration Trainee, you will:
• Provide administrative functions and confidential administrative support for the regional office including, word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, photocopying and taking minutes at various meetings.
• As part of a team, deliver a high-quality telephone and reception service to customers, service providers and members of the public by maintaining a welcoming and professional manner, acknowledging all visitors and callers, respecting diversity and responding promptly to their needs.
• Maintain filing and recording system ensuring the confidentiality of all documentation handled.
• Assist with ordering stationery, stock control and maintenance of stationery cupboards.
• Undertake work activities in a cooperative and supportive manner as an active member of a diverse work team.
What we are looking for:
The position requires an applicant who can:
• Seek clarity of tasks and work collaboratively with individuals and the team to meet objectives and goals.
• Build and sustain positive relationships with team members and customers through sharing information and ensure the team and stakeholders are kept informed of issues.
• Basic computer literacy including competent use of Microsoft Office or the ability to rapidly acquire.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise effectively with a diverse range of people.
• Has a desire to undertake a Certificate III in Business Administration, recognising the commitment to study this entails.
