In the role of Project Engineer you will provide sound electrical engineering support for the efficient and effective operation of the traffic management systems and roadway lighting within the State. You will also provide advice and liaise where necessary during the construction stage of projects to ensure that the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) operations are integrated with the Department's traffic management requirements.

Accountabilities include:

  • Provide input to and prepare technical specifications for engineering projects.
  • Develop and test configuration files for the traffic signal controller in accordance with design drawings and TMR policy guidelines.
  • Provide technical and operational advice to internal and external stakeholders about signal design and system operation strategies.
  • At each stage of the project, liaise with the project management team and the associated contractors and designers.
  • Investigate and report on innovations, developments or modifications.
  • Provide training and instruction to technical and non-technical staff in relation to changes in traffic management resulting from projects.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions

  • Valid Queensland ‘C' class driver's licence or equivalent.
  • A reasonable amount of travel consistent with industry standards will be required throughout the State.
  • A Degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent Electrical Engineering qualification which is acceptable for corporate membership of Engineers Australia as a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng).
