Operations Team Leader

We’re looking for a dynamic Operations Team Leader to join our Rockhampton Regional Service Centre, providing critical operational and technical support to the Regional Service Centre Manager. In this fast-paced leadership role, you'll manage day-to-day frontline operations, lead and support a dedicated team, and take charge of complex and sensitive case files involving disputes, claims, compliance, and licensing. As the last line of escalation before the RSCM, you’ll be a key problem-solver, relationship builder, and performance driver — ensuring high-quality, customer-focused outcomes every step of the way. Key Outcomes and Accountabilities  

  • Provide operational and technical support to the Regional Service Centre Manager (RSCM).
  • Deliver high-quality customer service to consumers, internal clients, stakeholders, and industry groups across multiple channels.
  • Manage or support complex and sensitive matters, including disputes, claims, compliance, and licensing.
  • Lead and support the team, monitor performance, close feedback loops, and identify gaps in operational knowledge and delivery.
  • Act as the final point of escalation for complex operational matters prior to RSCM involvement.
  • Assist with industry engagement, promotional and educational activities as required.
  • Champion and model QBCC's core values to ensure consistent, customer-focused service delivery.

Candidate Attributes

  1. Substantial knowledge of building and construction industry and ability to apply this to matters whilst operating, applying and comprehending contemporary building standards, practices, legislation and codes. 
  2. High level, operational guidance and resource management skills supported by a record of achievement in delivering high quality performance outcomes. 
  3. High level communication, interpersonal, negotiation and mediation skills with a proven ability to develop strategic and collaborative relationships. 
  4. Formulate and deliver high quality responses in relation to complex or sensitive issues that may in a political context, and provide advice at a senior level.
