Role details

The Child, Youth and Family Health at the Carlyle Community Health Centre is seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse (Child Health Nurse) to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity

  • The Clinical Nurse provides nursing services within the health service settings; and is responsible for a portfolio with a focus on clinical care/leadership, management, education and/or research.  The activities are predominantly clinical in nature but also provide support to a Nurse Grade 7 or above in management activities. 
  • The Clinical Nurse (Child Health Nurse) provides advanced level Child Health clinical skills to ensure client-focused evidence-based nursing care. You will plan and coordinate the clinical management of client care and provide leadership and support to other nursing staff within the Child, Youth and Family Health unit.
  • You will work within a dynamic team to provide community-based Child Health Nursing, utilising the Primary Health Care Model. Services are provided for individuals (0-18 years), families and groups within the local community, with a focus on the 0-5 years age.  You will have opportunities to provide clinical service delivery within clinic and Home Visiting settings and have responsibility for a caseload of clients. You will report to the Nurse Unit Manager.

About the Team

The Child Youth and Family Health (CYFH) unit is a primary healthcare, multi-disciplinary service which is part of the Mackay Hospital and Health Service.  The building is located at Carlyle Community Health Centre in Carlyle Street, Mackay. The service extends from Mackay to Sarina, Walkerton and areas of the Pioneer Valley. The unit offers client focused screening, monitoring, guidance and education along with appropriate referrals and early interventions.
