As our Policy Officer, you will:
• Provide support to senior members of the Economic Policy & Analytics team through significant economic analysis projects.
• Conduct research and analysis into current issues, opportunities and challenges in the primary industries sector, with a view to informing the development and delivery of DPI policies and programs.
• Be able to quickly develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve a timely and quality outcome.

About the role
As our Policy Officer, you will:
• Support senior members of the team with policy projects and coordination of activities.
• Undertake basic research and analysis in assigned project areas as directed.
• Provide support in the development and provision of advice on regulatory policy matters including those affecting efficiency, innovation and resilience for the sector.
• Provide support in the preparation of timely, well-researched and high-quality reports, submissions, briefing notes, policy and issue papers and correspondence as required.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve timely and quality outcomes.
• Undertake any tasks or projects as directed.
Essential requirements
• Effective time management and organisational skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Ideally, applied economic and/or broader policy skillsets.
You may also have
• A relevant tertiary qualification is highly desirable, including in:
o Commerce/Economics
o Data science
o A wide range of sciences including but not limited to agricultural, horticultural, marine, environment, ecology, animal, chemical engineering and botany policy.
